Hey! It's Salina. For anyone that hasn't had the chance to read the ABOUT page on drsbookstore.ca I will give you a bit of a recap!
I have loved getting lost in a good book since elementary school. I have so many memories of summers I immersed myself in reading and buying books. My all-time favourite thing about reading was sharing books with my friends! My dream job growing up was working in a bookstore, at the time Chapters/Indigo was the height of my aspiration.
As always once you enter late teens and early adulthood life gets busy, you feel like your main priority is figuring out what you want to do with your life (which is nuts by the way). Then you put yourself on that trajectory and ideally build towards those wants. In those years I became a mama and a full time foster parent. I based my whole existence around raising and healing children.
In 2020, I rediscovered reading through audiobooks, and was instantly reminded of how much I missed being sucked into a good book. The following year I decided to start up @dedicated.reader on IG, where I focus on sharing my reviews of all the books I've read. Finally, last year I opened up DR's Bookstore. An exclusively online Canadian bookstore, owned and operated by me!
I love that I can throw my creativity and my love of reading together to create the site and content you guys get to see. With the mama thing being an ever changing adventure and life being a little too hectic some days. I flourish the most when I'm out walking in nature or letting my creativity take over. As someone who loves the feeling of letting every thought/feeling flow through their finger tips into journal entries, I am really looking forward to centring this blog around all things books. My brain is buzzing constantly with so many ideas and I can't wait to get some of them out into the open!
